Mattel made 3 Musical maps for Disney.
This is "Your Trip To Disneyland On Records" Muscial Map, containing 5 records to be cut out. The Cover (left) and back cover (top right) contain the Muscial Map (lower right)[See 1950's: MATTEL→Disneyland and Misc Disneyland].
There were 2 variations of the cut-outs released. Type 1 is on the back cover(above right) and type 2 has the instructions on the back cover and the cut-out is on the musical map (right below)
This is "Your Own Mickey Mouse Club On Records" Musical Map, containing 5 records to be cut out. The cover (left) and back cover (top right) contain the Musical Map (lower right)[See 1950's: MATTEL→Mickey Mouse Club and Misc MMClub].
This is "Walt Disney's The Legend Of DAVY CROCKETT On Records" Musical Map, containing 5 records to be cut out. The cover (left) and back cover (right) contain the Musical Map[See 1950's: MATTEL→Davy Crockett and Misc Davy Crockett]. This is a rare set, I have no idea why. I would have thought this set would have been very popular and sold well.
Durability: The Recorded surface was glued in spots (as can be seen on the individual records) onto the cardboard background images. The plastic recorded surface tends to warp and usually there is center hole damage to loose records.
Picto Toons came in a box (ex: left [502A, 502B, 502C and 502F]) and contained: one picture record (See 1950's: Misc Companies→Picto Toons} Music/words written on the inside of the box cover, 4 puzzles and a pamphlet (top right) showing the game parts. Six box games were issued (502 A-F).
Kiddie Record Set 1 came with an album of 6 records (cover, right) and a story book (number 1, left). See 1923-34: KIDDIE RECORD→KMisc2 for story book page images. The figure (right, bottom) shows the table of contents for the record album.
This set also came with a Kiddie Rekord Music Booklet (above, middle). Note: The company tried to draw attention to their records by spelling rekord with a 'k' instead of a 'c' but they must have abandoned that idea quickly since record set 1 has record spelled both ways. The British set and set 2 both have the traditional spelling for record.
This is the British version of Kiddie Record Set 1 (See 1923-34, KIDDIE RECORD→ KMisc1 for records) album cover (left) and table of contents (right). Note: The British set only contained 5 records (No Little Bo Peep) and all but one song had different singers than the U.S. set.
Kiddie Record Set 2 came with an album of 6 records (cover, right) and a story book (number two, left). See 1923-34: KIDDIE RECORD→ KMisc3 for story book page images. The figure (right, bottom) shows the table of contents for the 2nd record album.
Durability: These records are fragile. When these records are found cracked the record is usually held together by the picture label that is glued on to the non-playing side. These records are also susceptible to edge chips.
Visitone Set No. 1 came in an envelope that included: a tri-fold cover(cover - outside shown above) that contained; 3 picture records. The set also included a phamplet (front/back, below)
and a picture (left)(sample record image, above). See 1950's, MISC COMPANIES→Visitone for record images.
Visitone Set No. 2 came in an envelope that included: a tri-fold cover(cover - outside shown above) that contained; 3 picture records. The set also included a phamplet (front/back, below)
and a picture (left)(sample record image, above). See 1950's, MISC COMPANIES→Visitone for record images.
Durability: These records tend to crack and chip on the edges. Also they darken unevenly over time.
This is the top of the Bubble Book box(left) that contained the last 4 issued electrically recorded version of the Bubble Books(The Higgledy Piggledy, The Robin and Wren, The Chimney Corner and The Child's Garden of Verses Bubble Books. These electrically recorded sets are difficult to find and the box near impossible! These are not picture records but are very collectible in the children's record realm.
This website is where you can find the Bubble Book Dicography.
