This is "A Talking Book, Noah's Ark" (front cover - dust jacket: left). The back inside cover contains the flexible picture record (See Early 40's, Misc Companies → A Talking Book for record images). Only 2 books with one picture record each were produced.
This is "A Talking Book,
Hiawatha's Childhood" (front cover - dust jacket: left. The back inside cover contains the flexible picture record (See Early 40's,
MISC COMPANIES → A Talking Book for record images).
Durability: These records are usually found in good condition with or without the book.
This is the tri-fold cover
for the 3 record Rhapsodette Set [front cover: top, inside cover: bottom (See Late 40'sPt3, MISC COMPANIES → Rhapsodette for record images). The music/words side says "This Side For Your Very Own Recording". I am guessing this is the same company as the Castle Records Company(below) as the records have the same songs, are both in a tri-fold cover, both are made in California and both have the ability to record your own message on the non-picture side. |
Durability: Records tend to chip on edges, have split surfaces and are discolored.

A magazine ad for RGA (Record Guild of America) pp series records. This shows a record rack that held 8 records, the eight picture animation records and an eight sided mirror that came in a set (See Late 40'sPt4, RGA(PicturePlay) → PP1,PP7,PP13 for record images).
These animation records are quite rare today. I would guess that Red Raven may have told RGA that they were infringing on their patents? They may have ceased production after an initial production run.
Durability: The recording film tends to delaminate from the cardboard surface. These records are fragile.
This is Record Guild of America Fairy Tales Album 6 (left: front), (right: back). This album contain 4 records: T1010, T1011, T1012, T1013, See Late 40'sPt4: RGA(Pt1) → T-Series(1010) for record images.
Durability: These records tend to separate at the outside edge. Look for edge and center hole damage.
This is Vogue 2 picture record set album "For the Children" containing: R745 and R746 (The Trial of "Bumble", the Bee Pt1/Pt2 and The Boy Who Cried Wolf Pt1/Pt2).
For record images see Late 40'sPt1: Vogue → TrialWolf. R745 has Pt1's and R746 has Pt2's of each story.
Durability: This set as with all albums that load from the top usually have damage on the cardboard bottom from the records slipping out of their holders and cutting through the bottom.
Twenty books (example T19: top left) were slated to be produced (List of books from inside back of book: top right). Sixteen were actually produced (unless anybody has some I couldn't find!!). Books T15: "The Little Puppy Who Learned to Behave", T16: "The Story of Heidi", T18: "The Singing Book of Christmas Carols" and T20: "Davy Crockett and the Flatboat" were not produced.
Durability: The recording film is easily damaged and most are found that way.
Wheaties Cereal Box Cut-Out Records (Cereal Box front and back - above). Eight different songs/records were produced.
Durability: These records are creased easily and many times there is center hole damage from the center being punched out poorly. Also the recording film can be damaged by heat and shrink at different rates than the cardboard backing.
Wheaties "Disney Mouseketeer" Cereal Box Cut-Out Records (Cereal Box front and back - above). Eight different songs/records were produced.
Durability: These records are creased easily and many times there is center hole damage from the center being punched out poorly. Also the recording film can be damaged by heat and shrink at different rates than the cardboard backing.
These are Punch and Judy Records for Children, Assortment B and D. These are in their original packaging!
These are considered picture records because the picture is part of the record, not a paper label, but the picture in not in the grooves area like most true picture records.
Durability: These records should hold up well over time. Look for groove wear and cracked or marred surfaces.
