Magic Mirror Movie Records


Red Raven Box Red Raven Box These are 2 of the different Red Raven "Magic Mirror Movie" box packages that contained the 16 sided mirror. The earlier version (left) contained 2 records (4 sides with 4 songs and movies) and was produced by Childhood Interests Inc. The later version (right) was produced by Spear Products Company. This set was marketed as "Action Set To Music - Phonograph Records with Full Color Movies"

Red Raven BoxThis is a later set including the phonograph, that was also produced by the Spear Products Company. This set is marketed as "Song N' Story Phonograph & Magic Mirror Movies - Action Packed Colored Moving Pictures! with Magic Mirror Records"

The phonograph features are: The magic mirror carousel, 2 78 rpm magic mirror records, dial-o-matic speed selector with neutral position "3 speed phonograph that plays all childrens records", pop-up adapter disc for 45 rpm records, sapphire needle, sturdy scuff-resistant case of washable proxylin, whisper-tone motor and integral tone chamber.

Another company, called Sifo also produced sets with the Red Raven Magic Mirror and records.

There were 3 types of records made; The first 6" cardboard picture records with metal rims [See 1950's: RED RAVEN: → M1 and M7], opaque and semi-transparent 8" records with a paper label [See 1950's: RED RAVEN: → RRMisc1, RRMisc2 and RRMisc3]. There were two types of Magic Mirrors produced; one with a small round top and the other had a larger removable top to accomadate record players with taller spindles.

These are Red Raven Movie Records marketed in France, called Teddy Records. The top two images are front and back of sleeve 1 and the bottom images are front and back of sleeve 2. This is a Victor picture record made in 1957 to show the new building where RCA color TV's were going to be made (record front - top left "VictorVision"), top right image from earlier HMV picture record See Foreign: JAPAN → (AB-16-2: CP168).
